Xiao, also known as Dong Xiao, is an ancient Chinese wind instrument.Before the Han Dynasty, whether it was horizontal or vertical wind instruments,It can be called a flute.
From Ma Rongs "Flute Fu", we can see that the vertical flute has four holes, all on the front side., And then a back hole was added to the Jingfang in the Western Han Dynasty.
This type of system is basically the same as the current Dongxiao.
In the Han Dynasty, Wang Bao once wrote "Dong Xiao Fu", but there is the word "staggered" in the text.So it should refer to panpipes
